Bead Soup Blog Party, 2014!!

It has arrived! The Bead Soup Blog Party Arranged and Coordinated by the amazing Lori Anderson! This year I had the wonderful opportunity to trade Bead Soups with the wonderful Maria Sharrow of Willow Street Shops. I love that the Bead Soup Blog Party is about pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and stretching your skills. I"ll admit that stringing is not a strength of mine. Asymetrical/Symetrical, clasp, wire, crimps, crimp cover or not, So many questions and answers....So what could have been simple, really pushed me out of my "zone".

My first piece I wanted to focus on the iridescent colors of the feather. In the shade it looks dark, but get a bit of light on it, and you can see blues, greens and lots of shininess! I worked several different versions of kumihimo trying to incorporate some shiny threads. It worked, but now to decide, Kumihimo on the top, Kumihimo on the bottom? Clasp on the back, on the side? And this is what I came up with. and I really like how it turned out..

My second challenge was prying the moth wing pendant from my 7yo dd's hands!! I finally had to agree that it could be hers for special occassions. She already has worn it to school for her birthday! Here are pictures!

I also wanted to use some of the gemstones Maria sent to me. Since I was on a kumihimo kick, I paired the stones with celtic knots and a strand of kumihimo.

And last but not least, some earrings to go with the necklaces!

Thank you Maria and thank you to everyone for stopping by! Click HERE for the list of blogs!!

My BEAD SOUP!!

I have received my soup from Rosa (her Blog) (Etsy Store)! And let me tell you it is awesome!! I think she was worried because it's hard to pinpoint my style...and she had no reason to be worried! I love everything she sent.  I have always admired butterfly wings and feathers incased in solder, but have never tried that. I have soldered some copper and soldering is not something I would call a skill of mine! So I am envious of Rosa's soldering abilities!!

My daughter (6yo) is also envious of my Soup and has already claimed one of the extra pendants. We will have to work together and talk about how we not put all different pieces onto the necklace, like extra paper, clumps of weird colored beads, etc.

I have the soup set up next to my chair so I can think about and image different things to do with my soup!  Below are some pictures.

Just look at the irridescent blue on the feather!! Love it!!

We found each other!

I'm excited! the list was released. We found each other and this is going to be fun! My partner is Maria Rosa from Willow Street Shops on blogger and her etsy shop. As far as styles go, we are pretty opposite. But I think that is actually a good thing. I love being sent out of my box this might do it!

I have put together a couple of soups and I will be putting it in the mail tomorrow. Here are some images of what I have sent!

Of course as everything goes into the package, the "is it good enough" thoughts come about...but I will not let that take over! I look at them and like them so they will have to do.

Take a look at Lori's site to keep an eye on things!

It's about to start!!

Lori at Bead Soup Blog Party has revealed the Seed Beaders list. I'm sure she's busy working on the rest of the 497 participants to pair them up. I'm excited to be paired and see what my partner likes to do.

Here are my two past creations from the Bead Soup Blog Party...I tend to not like just stringing, I usually have to go a bit overboard and ultra creative. It pushes me outside my box and I really enjoy that! When my partner reads this, just know that I"m not picky, I love surprises, and thoroughly enjoy this process. I'm waiting patiently for the list! LOL

Skye's Creative Chaos Design Challenge #2

Back awhile ago, I entered a giveaway from the Creative Chaos Blog. I was for a chance to participate in a challenge. I was picked and it was a bit of a challenge. I received 4 baggies of things and had to use somerhing from each bag. Me being me, I take that literally and think that I need to use them in the same piece. So it was a bit of a challenge. LOL!!

So with the drumming drums, here is what I made. I'm actually a little bit impressed with my creation. I really might wear it.

I'm on my playbook tablet, so i hope I can figure out how to link to the other participants. If I cannot, click on skyescreativechaos.blogspot.ca above and go from there to the other blogs.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

I have been lucky to win a few recent giveaways. I thought I would share the links to their sites.

The first giveaway that i won was from Katie Richbourg. She is having a giveaway each friday for awhile. I was lucky to win this!! Max Flame Butane Torch i have not had a chance to use it yet, but i have crwated a bunch of copper rings that need to be soldered, so i'm just waiting for the right time! It was also exciting that 2 days after i received the torch, Katie was on jtv.com and showed how to use my exact torch.

The second gi eaway i have won is from Creative Arty Facts. she is an awesome enamel and lampwork artist. She was experimenting with new colors and i love the color called cardamon, which is a green. I'm so excited because that's the set i won! I'm hoping to make a lighter set of my bead soup blog necklace with these beads. I can't wait!!
